I am Charlie Stevens, currently working as an Administration and Service Manager at SATA UK LTD where I have worked for the last 6 years, but my journey into the working world with SATA began much earlier than that.

As with many teenagers approaching the end of their school life, I did not have much of an idea as to what I wanted my career and future to look like but decisions have to start being made on your next steps. I took the decision to study business and marketing at college for the next two years to keep my options broad whilst I gained more of an idea of career paths I wished to explore. Due to the fact this course was 3 days each week, it gave me the opportunity to explore working opportunities on my ‘days off’.

This is when my Dad (MD-SATA UK) suggested that I come at help at SATA UK on my days off to give me some experience and a chance to see different aspects of the business as well as offering them an extra pair of hands. This initial period enabled me to experience almost every aspect of the business and discover what I enjoyed (and what I didn’t!) which was a huge help in understanding the kind of areas I wanted to work in as well as seeing where skills I had learnt across education could be applied to real-world scenarios.

Following the initial work experience, I began working at SATA UK in a part-time capacity helping with administration, product repairs & customer service. This experience then helped to develop skills that would assist me when entering the working world full-time in 2018.

Following the completion of my diploma and some further work experience/jobs, a full-time opportunity arose at SATA which allowed me to return on a full-time basis and I have been here ever since!

My career which I find both rewarding and fulfilling was all made possible by the opportunity to complete work experience which in turn has benefitted both myself (and hopefully) my employer!
