For the last few years School of Thought have selected a week every year to promote Automotive. Other sectors have their own week, so why shouldn’t we. So, at the start of National Automotive Careers Week, which this year is endorsed by the AA, we will be sharing success stories, articles and much more to highlight the amazing world of Automotive.
Our first article is all about our partner Auto Windscreens. This blog provides insights into their apprenticeship programmes, training courses, and other opportunities available for apprentices to engage in, as well as showcasing Kasper the winner of 2024 Apprentice of the Year.

Shaping Automotive Careers at Auto Windscreens
We’re thrilled to introduce our 2024 Apprentice of the Year, Kasper McKinnon, from our Southend-on-Sea service centre. Kasper stood out for his commitment to learning, technical expertise, and customer-focused approach, which led to him earning our ‘Auto Windscreens Apprentice of the Year’ shield. He’s a shining example of what our apprentices can achieve through the Level 3 Automotive Glazing Technician pathway. Meet our 2025 winner later this year!
Automotive Glazing apprentices are hands on, learning practical skills about all aspects of glazing and ADAS and will work towards a Level 3, with technological advancements and safety being paramount on every repair, competent and trained technicians are crucial to glazing repairs and replacement.
Auto Windscreens also offers an apprenticeship programme within their contact centre. This course spans a 12-month period during which agents work towards earning their Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner qualification.
During the apprenticeship, participants are responsible for managing their own project. This initiative allows them to gain hands-on experience in project management. Past projects have included activities such as canal cleans, beach cleans and creating recruitment advertisements. Additionally, the apprentice team is encouraged to develop improvement ideas that they will present to the Senior Management Team, with implementation considered if feasible.
Training and Development for Businesses and Individuals
We’re equally excited to share that our industry-leading Training Centre is now fully IMI accredited. As the only company in our sector to hold both IMI and GQA Qualifications, we’re poised to offer an even broader range of courses to businesses and colleges. This includes the brand-new AOM230 module for ADAS calibration, which our team were the first in the UK to complete!
